In her influential first book, Sexual Detours: The Startling Truth Behind Love, Lust and Infidelity (St. Martin’s Press, 2001), she describes how an affair is always a “cover story” for something else going on inside the person doing it…a betrayal of the self that overtakes marriage vows and a chemistry of escape that eclipses the promise of sexual lightning. She also provides a fresh look at outmoded, unrealistic notions of romantic love.

Dr. Holly is also the go-to psychotherapist for young Hollywood and other celebrities when they need relationship counsel. Her clients include over a dozen A-list stars (no, don’t even think about asking…) whose relationships, and general mental health, are further challenged by the harsh glare of the media spotlight.

Her commentary has appeared in a broad range of media outlets including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Us Weekly, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Oprah, Strictly Sex with Dr. Drew, FOX News, iVillage and is a regular guest on KPFK public radio in Los Angeles.
